Increasing Global Recognition and International Colaboraions

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

The Indian Space Research Organization, has actively pursued collaborations and partnerships with various space agencies and organizations around the world, fostering cooperation in space research, satellite technology, and space exploration. These collaborations have played a crucial role in enhancing ISRO's capabilities, facilitating knowledge exchange, and promoting peaceful uses of outer space. Here are some notable examples of international collaboration involving ISRO:


1) NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration):

Chandrayaan-1 Mission: ISRO collaborated with NASA on the Chandrayaan-1 mission, India's first lunar probe launched in 2008. NASA's Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3) instrument onboard Chandrayaan-1 contributed to the discovery of water molecules on the Moon's surface.

NISAR Mission: ISRO is collaborating with NASA on the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission, aimed at studying global environmental change and hazards. NISAR is expected to provide valuable data on Earth's land, ice, and ecosystem.



2) Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency)

GLONASS Navigation System: ISRO collaborated with Roscosmos for the joint development and deployment of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) and Russia's Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS). This collaboration enhances navigation capabilities for users in India and Russia and strengthens cooperation in space technology.

3) ESA (European Space Agency):

Earth Observation: ISRO has partnered with ESA on various Earth observation missions, including the Climate Change Initiative (CCI) program. Collaborative efforts focus on sharing data, expertise, and technologies to monitor and study climate-related phenomena, contributing to global efforts in climate research.

Aeolus Mission: ISRO provided ground station support to ESA's Aeolus mission, which aims to study Earth's wind patterns and improve weather forecasting. ISRO's ground station in Mauritius received and processed data from the Aeolus satellite.

4) CNES (French Space Agency):

Megha-Tropiques Mission: ISRO collaborated with CNES on the Megha-Tropiques mission, a joint
satellite mission aimed at studying the water cycle and energy exchanges in the tropical atmosphere. The satellite carries instruments from both ISRO and CNES for comprehensive atmospheric studies.
