EARLY STAGES OF INDIAN SPACE EXPLORATION

- Origin of ISRO:-

The seeds of India's space program were sown in the early years of independence when visionary leaders recognized the potential of space technology in nation-building. 

In 1962, the Indian National Committee for Space Research was formed, laying the foundation for what later became the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Under the leadership of eminent physicist Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, INCOSPAR embarked on a mission to use space technology for social development and scientific advancement.

- India's first step into Space:-

India's first journey into space took place in 1975 with the launch of its first satellite, Aryabhata. Named after the ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer, Aryabhata symbolizes the country's aspirations to break new ground in science and technology.

 Although small in scope compared to contemporary space efforts, the successful launch of Aryabhata marked a significant milestone in India's space campaign, inspiring a generation of scientists and engineers to aim for the stars.

- SLV-3 and beyond:-

In 1980, India took a giant leap with the launch of its first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3), placing the Rohini satellite into orbit. This historic achievement makes India the sixth country in the world to have indigenous satellite launch capability, taking it to the global stage of space exploration. With subsequent missions such as INSAT and the IRS series, India strengthened its position as a regional powerhouse, revolutionizing satellite technology, communications, weather forecasting and resource management.
